My Promise to You

During my first campaign, I made a promise to people in Burlington and Ocean Counties that I would be the most accessible, transparent, and accountable Member of Congress in the House of Representatives. And as I seek re-election now, I want to reiterate that promise.

As a Member of Congress:

Whether you voted for me or not, I work for you. And when I make a promise to you, I keep it, because trust is how we move forward together.

As your congressman, your voice is what matters to me the most. To make sure I hear you, I’ve committed to holding a town hall every month, and I’ve held more than that since I’ve been elected because hearing directly from you about your concerns allows me to better address them in Congress. We have been through so much together in the past few years – from natural disasters to political instability and acts of social injustice. That’s why it’s so important that we have space to connect, share our stories and our needs, and remember what brings us together as Americans.

And, I do more than listen. I’m also committed to being transparent in my work because it’s important that you see that I am working for all of us. That’s why I publish my daily activities on my congressional website. It lets you see that I am keeping my promise to put your needs first, and it allows you to hold me accountable to issues that matter the most to you.

My campaign is powered by people, not corporations. I am one of only a few Members of Congress who don’t take corporate PAC money. Because I believe the only people who should influence my actions are the residents of New Jersey’s Third Congressional District.

Now more than ever, we need leaders who are honest and hardworking, focused on helping our country rather than on political games. Treating each other with respect and compassion is not a partisan value; it’s an American value. To get America through our current crises, our leaders need to listen, keep their word, and deliver for their constituents. My promise to you is that I will continue to be that kind of representative, and I expect you to hold me to it.
